What’s it all about?
This event is one of many charitable projects the Kiwanis Club of Sandwich either organizes or participates in. The proceeds from the Pirates of the Chilibean chili festival benefit over 2,000 Cape Cod children and youth served by the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod; the Challenger Club of Cape Cod; and the Sandwich High School Athletic Boosters.
The Kiwanis Club of Sandwich is a part of Kiwanis International, a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one community and one child at a time. They meet on Thursdays at 6:30 pm at either the British Beer Company on Rt. 6a or the Daniel Webster Inn on Main Street, with special guest speakers at some meetings. Go to their web site and check the Activity Calendar for current information about the meeting location. The meeting places can change, especially during the summer when they hold special member cookouts, but visitors are always welcome. The Club invites people to join them at a meeting to see what Kiwanis is all about.
The Sandwich club is involved in many community service projects and fund raisers that benefit those in need, primarily children and young adults. Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. There is no group or person in Sandwich that has not benefited from their help in some way. From picking up trash along Rt. 6Aand decorating Kiwanis Park at the juncture of Routes 130 and 6A to welcome visitors to the Town of Sandwich, to supporting little league, military kids with deployed parents, or the Key Club at the high school and donating over $9,000 in college scholarships annually, to making big pledges to help groups like RHCI open their pediatric center in Sandwich or Green Briar furnish their Education Center, the Kiwanis Club of Sandwich has been there for people of Sandwich. And in the process of helping others, Kiwanis members form life-long friendships and forge strong business partners.
For contact or meeting information about the Kiwanis Club of Sandwich go to their website or one of their Thursday night meetings.
